This new year, dawning of the new decade,
I’m going to need you to say it!

I’m going to need you to say that you are accountable for your actions whether someone calls you on them or not.

I’m going to need you to say that we all make mistakes, that’s a normal thing and admitting them is the most important part of the process. And then admit them.

I’m going to need you to say that you are sorry for the things you said when your emotions got the best of you. And then work on getting the best of your emotions.

I’m going to need you to say that two wrongs don’t make a right and that revenge tactic you pulled was nothing short of mean and you know it.

I’m going to need you to say that you have not been doing your work, but now you are indeed working on your stuff and you will be able to show “the receipts”*. (*proof) And then show it.

I’m going to need you to say that when you teach black and brown and poor children not to name-call, shame, make fun of or bully others and to be accountable if they do any of these things and never demand the same of our current president or any other political figure, you are fully participating in the racism and classism that you pride yourself in being wholeheartedly against. I’m really going to need you to say that!

In this decade, we have the power and the opportunity to make radical change by holding ourselves to the same principles that we teach to children.

In love,
Lynne

If you want to do the work with me, I am starting another session of my group for White people who would like real leadership, guidance, knowledge and calling you in to look at your stuff, but also helping you get out there to have these conversations at home, in the workplace, at school, in your communities, on social media or with those family members who just don’t get it.
